Encountered a couple of big issues while working on my John Deere 830-Industrial. First, I think the starting motor clutch is smoked, so I'll need to fix that. Second, the front bearing on the RH side is permanently installed. #johndeere #tractor #farming #diesel #mechanic #usa #restoration

John Deere 202 Plow - The Best Plow Ever Made!
Mom has a player piano. It has been passed down at least 4 generations. It sat not working for years then one day by chance she ran into an elderly man who worked on player pianos and got it working again. Mom was in tears when it started working again.
Wear a head mike so we an hear better
Sorry, I've tried wireless microphones and I didn't like them. Unless you spend several hundred dollars on a good one the sound quality is bad. And I've lost footage because the mic disconnects. That's is very frustrating. I try my best to get the audio loud enough for people to hear me. A few people have said it's faint. I recommend you use headphones.
That is a beautiful tractor and i love that sound. It brings back do many fond memories years ago on the farm. We farmed four hundred acres and had four tractors. Two MM's and two Nohnnie poppers.
That's awesome! That sounds like a good childhood!
Ok, you can take a little break and let the smoke clear👍 it’s a nice piece of history! Sounds beautiful
That's the plan!
Always wanted one
Asking Alexa to play a song is a lot easier, but this is way cooler
That’s the only way I can play
Aside from chopsticks, I'm the same way.
BAREFOOTED,even!
Flip flops aren't very good for anything... Even piano playing. Why do I wear them so much? 😅
@@jonelsonster I gave up on them too!
Good video. Great tractor. Your dad is lucky to get it.
Yeah, we feel fortunate to have gotten it. It has everything we wanted.
Where’s the hydraulic filter located?
Very interesting 🧐
I have a 830 electric start 👨🌾
😎
Where’s the hydraulic filter located?
Is the a hydraulic filter? One it. & where is it located. … ? 2 where is the Fran plug to drain hydraulic oil out???
You have anymore pictures of the 3 point setup? What arw the arms of off?
I can get some more photos of the hitch. Or I can make a video on it. I think I might already have one video on my channel briefly talking about it, but it might not have enough detail for someone who wanted to duplicate it. Those arms are from a Ford 8n. We bought them online for about $25 each, I think. The hitch is from a model A.
Wow!!! Looks completely different! Lovely transformation!
Thank you! Cheers!

I am not a straight pipe guy, but my 14 yo Grandson thinks the louder the better!
Yeah, you've got to wear eat plugs with the straight pipe. We have a muffler for it too. You can swap between the two in about 20 seconds.
Man, nothing makes me happier than seeing all you and your dad's hard work pay off to make that gorgeous 830 look and run like new again. I know that old industrial 830 will get there in time too. JD 830's are my dream tractor, I keep saving up money until I see the right deal come along and will have your videos to help me with some repairs and maint I might need to do. Thanks for the video, take care!
I appreciate that!
A beautiful job done on that 830, glad to hear it thumping along! This whole electric start thing seems WAYYY too simple
Yeah, as I'm struggling with all of these small pony motor issues, my dad just pushes a button and bingo! His is alive! But I'm committed to keeping mine a pony start, even if electric start is more convenient.
@@jonelsonster Electric vs pony is the age old argument at this point. In winter I won't give up my pony!
that's what that tractor 🚜 😊 needs 2 be drove sometimes and not just setting in the shed it will do the tractor 🚜 😊 alot of good it runs good and has good pulling power anytime it the tractor will pull a hill like that in high gear 5th and 6th gear are road gear 4 speed 2 get there where U going 😊😊 OMG 6 29 2O24
Yes it does!
Beautiful tractor that makes beautiful music
Thanks!
Sounds awesome 👌
👍🏻
Great looking tractor
Thanks 👍
Excellent video Jonelstar :) and that John Deere 830 in good condition and shape for sure !
Thank you very much!
Your view of your land is stunning !! i live below the equator .so is the JD ( stunning )
Thanks!
Ran one of those for 3 months the summer of 1963 in northwest Kansas.
That's would have been fun, running one of these back when it was new!
Looks awesome time well spent my hat's off for what you and Tom have done!!
Thanks 👍
I’m an IH guy that’s what I grew up on. But let me tell you I LOVE A John Deere 830 Diesel that’s a bad a$$ tractor tons of torque at super low RPM👍💪
Yeah, the 830 is a fun one. Back in the late 50s and early 60s I don't even know what other big tractors were out there. I know case had their 6 cylinder diesel 900 which was probably about the same size as the JD 830. What was IH's biggest tractor in 1959 or 1969? Or Allis? Or Oliver? Or MM?
Very Nice! Mine definitely wont turn out to be a showcase tractor like yours
We were lucky that this one didn't need much body work. That's can get hard sometimes.
You did a Beautiful Job and A Job Well Done
Thanks! 👍🏻
Beautiful tractor and background scenery to show it off. You and your Dad must be really happy with how it turned out.
Thanks!
That's a beautiful tractor and a great restoration. Your dad did a good paint job. Im not a fan of a paint job that is better than factory. Awesome. The scenery is great around there too!
This is nice enough that we can wash it off and it shines, but we can still go use it in the field and not worry about it.
I went to a farm aucion early int about 1976 and bought an oriiginal owenr 530 gas, narrow front, it wa sthe best. I already had a 4030 and 3020 , but, I used the 530 as a chore tractor, raked hay, used it on the grain drilll and manure spreader ect.
I'd love to have an 530 they are a nice little tractor.
Sounds great...looks great!
Thanks so much!
Awesome. We had a 730 diesel when I was a kid but sold it in the mid 1980s. In the late 2000s dad was semi-retired and bought/restored a 1960 830 with a pony motor. A few years ago he passed away and I have it now. At the moment it's getting an oil leak and some other minor things fixed but it looks just like yours but without a chrome stack.
Parts are starting to get hard to find for them now unfortunately. Had to get a machine shop or make several parts myself to keep them going. Had to make my own fuel sediment bowl, searched all over Canada and states can not find one that fits.
I'd love to have a 730. They are one of my favorites
It looks super nice!!
Thanks!
You should look at lasersabers youtube channel. He built ultracapacitor battery replacements for his cars. I am using the same tech on my classic tractors. No more batteries, no leaks, better CCA's, can't go dead and freeze. 1 million cycle lifespan. Great if you have multiple old machines.
Very interesting. Thanks for the tip!
That's awesome!!!!
Thanks!!
Thanks!! 😊
Parabéns Belo 830 🎉 .🇧🇷
Thanks! 🙏🏻
That tractor ran great from the first day you fired it up. I would hit those grease zerks a lick or two. Your dad is the real deal, good job.
A little maintenance and lubrication goes a long way!
Have ya'll ever restored a JD 730 row crop?
No, we've never had a 730. We have a 70 standard or Wheatland. It's a workhorse
Looks beautiful, great job
Thank you! 😊
I'm just curious. Is the cab going back on the tractor
It's not going back on this tractor. Mainly because it makes the tractor too tall to fit into most of our shops/sheds. We still have it, so if someone out there wanted it for one of their projects, they're welcome to have it... They'd just need to pick it up. Or we do have a few other tractors it could be put on: one of our R's or my 830-industrial. The catch is that it was welded onto the tractor when we got it. So I'd want to change that to a less permanent mounting option if I put it on my 830 out or R's.
@@jonelsonster The Scotch in me says don't give it away. LOL Especially if you can use it on another tractor,
That is one sexy tractor. I am 16 and have a 70 LP and a B. Can’t wait to have the funds to buy more, it’s safe to say im addicted young.
You're making an old codger jealous! Congratulations though in having something to focus on and enjoy doing.
I'm also 16, got myself a D. Hope I'll get some more soon
Very cool! 😎 Yeah, they can get pricey. But they are fun to work on... And very educational.
That all you use it for? Checking the mail?
We get a lot of mail 😅
Hahaha
It's unbelievable people like this still operate without federal oversight !!
Ha!
Sweet tractor! I want to start collecting that series soon.
Go for it!
Just a Sweet Baby! A-PLUS! Good to see Pop up and down the road! Blessings!
It's a pretty fun ride
@@jonelsonster It OUGHT to be! A buggy hauling around a BIG diesel! SWEET in my book!
Nothing sounds like those 2 cylinder diesels. It sure brings back memories from my childhood.
The sound of a two cylinder Deere is iconic, especially the diesel engines.
Looks like it just came off the showroom floor. Love that sound.
Thanks so much!
